DOE Releases New Energy Efficiency Standards – Are your pumps compliant?
- On February 27, 2020
90% of US Commercial and Industrial pumps operate inefficiently. In an effort to recapture some of the 13 billion kilowatt hours wasted annually, the US Department of Energy (DOE) has enacted new pump efficiency standards to help remove the bottom 25% worst performing pump models on the market. Benefits of the new Pump Energy Index (PEI) include reduction of CO2 gas, energy cost savings for your customers and rebates from participating utility companies. As of January 27, 2020, all manufactured pumps – including replacement pumps – within the DOE’s scope must have a PEI ≤1.0.
