Grundfos DME Dosing Pumps create cleaner discharge and improved water quality
- On April 13, 2020
Clean Water Systems in northwest Oregon had a major issue. Its effluent discharge was diminishing the water quality in the Tualatin River. Their obsolete 14-year-old 3-phase pump system couldn’t be set low enough to meet EPA approved levels for dosing without either overheating or air-locking the system. The solution was installation of the Grundfos DME 150-4 pumps which can act as a small pump initially and be adjusted to full capacity as needed. Since the single pump model offers a wider range of applications at different dosage levels, fewer pumps were needed and less parts inventory had to be carried for maintenance with the bonus of being operated from a remote terminal without having to manually adjust each stroke setting in the pump room. With greater control, Clear Water Systems was able to properly dose the discharge resulting in significant water quality improvement in the Tualatin River.
